Meeting on diabetes and wellness ... in Sardinian!
Saturday November 29, 2025, from 9 a.m., in the Great Hall of the Conference Center of the Archdiocesan Seminary in Cagliari (at 9 Monsignor Cogoni Street) will hold our awareness event entitled "Diabetes and Wellness: for a better life in diabetes".
The event is part of the initiatives for the World Diabetes Day (GMD), which falls on November 14, and is named after its central theme for the three-year period 2024-2026. Our intent will be, first of all, to explain theimportance of the multidisciplinary approach (also referred to as holistic or biopsychosocial) to this disease and the people living with it.
We will talk, therefore, about how different professionals (diabetologists, dietitians, nurses, psychologists, sports physicians...) are needed to prevent or better manage diabetes, but also about other, less known and widespread possibilities-such as, for example, the alert dogs - that can improve the lives of those with diabetes and those who share their daily lives with them.
Talks on these topics will be interwoven with "Pathways of Time," musical moments by the launeddas master Luigi Lai and the guitar teacher Marcello Floris. The choice to draw on Sardinian cultural heritage is not only related to geography: in fact, another star theme of the day will be the use of the Sardinian language as an innovative tool To promote the prevention and better management of diabetes. For this reason speakers and testimonials will speak in sardo and we will also look at the relationship between this language and Science in general.
The event is part of a larger Diabetes Zero project called "Diabetes in Sardinian - Su diabbeti in lìngua sarda", co-funded by the Foundation of Sardinia and the Regional Department of Labor. The project also includes the publication of a popular handbook, in Italian and in Sardinian, which will be officially presented on Nov. 29 and which delves into the topics covered by the meeting, accompanying them with additional content. Those who wish to have a copy can request information by sending an email to info@diabetezero.it
The Nov. 29 event is open to all and registration is not required.
