Group course for caregivers on nutrition and carbohydrate counting

Locandina corso su alimentazione per gruppi di caregiver di persone con diabete

Our new group course on diabetes and nutrition dedicated to family members and, in general, caregivers of people with diabetes will begin on January 26, 2026. The course is part of our new nutrition education project "People who count meet the dietitian," dedicated to anyone living with diabetes.

What you learn and why it is useful

Training will be provided by Dr. Lucina Corgiolu, dietitian, with the collaboration of Dr. Piera Scanu, diabetologist.

The course includes five 2-hour in-person meetings to talk about proper nutrition, carbohydrates (CHO), fiber, protein, fat, and how these nutrients impact blood sugar.
Why is it useful to know these things? To learn how to:
- count carbohydrates and to manage them in the most functional way (knowing what the glycemic index is and how to keep it low);
- Read nutrition labels and ingredient lists;
- also calculate their own recipes and manage meals away from home.

However, it will not just be about accumulating notions: theory will meet practice because together we will also work with real foods! It will be a way to find out, for example, how the weight changes from raw to cooked, but not the amount of carbohydrates present.

Who can participate

Anyone who is a family member or other caregiver of a person with diabetes who is or becomes a member of Diabetes Zero.
